Here is my 4th of July message and announcement of my website and newsletter. The website is designed to sell some books and provide links for visitors to peruse. The newsletter (GotDIME: Greg on the DIME-Diplomacy, Information, Military issues, or Economics) is free to friends, family and those interested in the message(s). I deal in information and in order to save time, I started the newsletter to provide information on: current events, perspective that is neither politically liberal nor conservative, and hopefully beneficial. If you are receiving the newsletter, it’s because I think it is information that will benefit you or a loved one. If you have time to read the newsletter, I appreciate it and look forward to your feedback. If you are too busy, and in the 21st Century, time is not anyone’s ally, I understand. The theme for July is appropriately, freedom. Remember our warriors forward that are providing us the opportunity to enjoy our freedoms.
FREEDOM

It’s the 4th of July, 2007, I’m living the American dream in San Antonio, Texas. I’m having a beer, grilling steaks in my backyard and enjoying what freedom means to me. I’m also contemplating the well being of my country. I understand what’s happening in Iraq and Afghanistan and I will toast each and every American warfighter that is allowing me to be at my home and live this dream.
I’ve already read the internet today, and I am aware of what the current pseudo-war has presented today. In spite of a wobbly kneed congress, an elitist Hollywood element and their media lapdogs, I am happy. I understand the true enemy of our country, terrorism. The reason for my joy is a revelation. It has recently dawned on me that the terrorist can’t win.
This Fourth of July we are surrounded with sights, sounds and visions of American Freedom. Our “brand”, the American brand if you will. Take the time to revel in our ‘brand’ because it is our freedom that scares the terrorists. Our Freedom is undeniable and will never be defeated. It is our indomitable spirit that makes America unbeatable, by terrorists, or Persian missiles, Chinese economic warfare, or the persistent antagonism of Oil dictators.
What constitutes ‘freedom’? For Americans it is a simple, taken for granted concept. It is the ability to do what they want, when they want, and for the most part, how they want to do it that constitutes freedom for Americans. They go about their business and deal with the war in Iraq and constant visions of terrorism, in spite of the daily news. Living the American dream is what freedom is for the majority of Americans. Basically Americans are unaffected because of the work of our Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security and a whole lot of luck. Can terrorism eliminate that freedom?
My short answer is; Yes. It may not be by a horrific nuclear blast in a US city. Terrorism can destroy America by perhaps instilling a simple collective loss of confidence in what we stand for. The very principle of freedom is how we live.
We’ve taken necessary requirements to protect ourselves from terrorists. New organizations, government programs (Homeland Defense and Transportation Security Authority are two), and taken a proactive, offensive approach with the Department of Defense. Given the situation, as an American in Texas, I feel both safe and free. I don’t see a terrorist or terrorism or a War on Terror taking that freedom away.
What I really feel is a threat to my freedom when the NEXT terrorist attack comes. I say NEXT attack, because it will come. A simple fear created by a violent act that will perpetuate another over-reaction. Our response will undoubtedly be an over-reaction and will be wholeheartedly supported by both sides of the isle in congress. When it happens, that is when our freedom will be tested. This threat to my freedom will be severe, but understandable and it will pass. America is stronger than the ideology of religious zealots.
No matter what steps we take, American on the whole is totally oblivious of the monsters that want to destroy our way of life. A way of life that will continue for many more July 4th’s. The Islamist Jihadi movement of Al Quida (AQ) is no longer an ‘entity’ with one maniac at the head. Osama Bin Laden is but a figurehead. A damned father-figure for a movement that is now a brand for terrorist around the globe.
AQ is a product line. A marketed business line in the Islamic community that is attempting to consume the Islamic world. An example is that Palestinian bastardization of Mickey Mouse that was killed off by “Jews”. Somewhere in that product is money, but the goal of the ‘corporation’ is the elimination of freedom and democracy we have in western civilization.
The freedom we love is the target of Jihadi-Fascism. Their objective is elimination of our freedom. Imagine America without separation of church and state. Our enemies propose a church, a mosque and yes, that’s your only choice where to go. And you go there everyday and you must pray five times a day. Women would not be treated as equals or allowed education. But live as sheltered, restricted and underappreciated beings that support the marketing of Jihad with protest and producing holy warriors. Nothing more.
That is just a miniscule slice of what awaits us if we, if AMERICA, does not defeat the AQ brand. So what can you, Joe American do to help fight this global branding?
First, increase your awareness in the efforts and activities of American forces. Provide wholehearted support to our warriors. Know the enemies of your country. Understand the difference between Sunni and Shiite Muslims. (Shiite’s are predominantly Persians/Iranian and Sunni’s are the roots of AQ with support from radical Arabs). Understand that most Muslims are overly sensitive about cartoons about the prophet Mohammed and hate western freedoms. One other thing. What our news won’t tell you because they are afraid is that the Jihadi’s really do want to kill non-believers, infidels and or apostates to Islam. That means you.
The second step is to understand your own government. Know which congressman, senator or representative will protect YOU from terrorism and support their election or re-election. What if our own government, I’m thinking a totally weak and pitifully manned congress, is needed to respond to a horrific event. I have NO doubts about my President. In my eyes, he “gets” Freedom. It is his utmost priority. President Bush’s ‘brand’ is the freedom of this nation and the leadership of democracy across the globe.
Thirdly and perhaps most important, live your life without fear. “No Fear”, the ad slogan for Nike, is not just an ad slogan, but should be the brand of Democracy in the current ‘war’ we wage.
Let me tell you something MFA (My Fellow American), the government can look at every piece of my email, they can check my bank account and even audit me. My freedom is not jeopardized by this. My freedom is in jeopardy when my government is incapable of acting against terrorism. Today, they can still do this.
I continue to have faith in my God, my country and my family. These are the things our enemies want to take away from us. Support the troops, be aware of your enemy, understand those in government that want to take the war to the enemy and live your life without fear. These are ways your freedom cannot be taken from you. MTG
